Networking angiogenesis - Bridging young researchers in the vascular biology field
The University of Chester, UK
14 July 2009
Science Programme
Oral communication slots are available at this meeting. All attendees are invited to submit a poster abstract for consideration as an oral communication.
Registration deadline extended: 6 July 2009 Registration is now closed. If you still wish to attend please contact AngiogenesisYLS2009@yahoo.co.uk.
Abstract submission is now closed. If you wish to submit an abstract, please contact AngiogenesisYLS2009@yahoo.co.uk
There will be prizes for the best poster and oral presentations in two categories: students and post-docs.
Aim
This meeting organized by young scientists is especially designed to encourage and give the chance to students and postdoctoral fellows to present their work to other scientists. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in networking and presenting to a large peer audience.
Outline of Meeting
This meeting will focus on the physiological, pathology and therapeutic potential of targeting angiogenesis and will be broadly divided into two sections:
Developmental Angiogenesis
Angiogenesis is an integral part of embryonic development to supply the developing embryo with a vascular bed. It also occurs as part of the normal recovery process to ischemic injury. This session will focus on physiological and pathological outcomes of angiogenesis and the novel signalling pathways involved in these processes.
Therapeutic Angiogenesis
This session will focus on current and pre-clinical anti- and pro-vascular therapy in diseases such as cancer, wet macular degeneration etc. It will cover a range of therapeutic strategies including antibody, small molecule inhibitor targeted therapy and gene therapy targeting the vasculature. Special interest will be placed on novel techniques being developed in the vascular biology field.
This symposium is an excellent opportunity to discuss research on the molecular and genetic basis of angiogenesis as well as translational research on therapeutic potential of regulating angiogenesis.
